Coffee Recalls 2024 Canada

Nationwide Coffee Recall Raises Concerns Over Deadly Toxin

Over 100 Brands Affected, Consumers Urged to Check Supply

Recall Issued Due to Risk of Unsafe Toxin Levels

As of January 15, 2024, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a nationwide recall for over 100 brands of canned coffee due to the risk of contamination with a potentially deadly toxin. The affected products are being recalled from the marketplace due to the potential for consumption of unsafe levels of this toxin. The recall affects nearly 300 coffee products, including popular brands such as Tim Hortons, Starbucks, and Maxwell House. Consumers are urged to check their coffee supply and discard any products that match the recalled list. The CFIA has advised individuals who have consumed the affected products to monitor for symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. In severe cases, the toxin can cause kidney failure and even death. Consumers are encouraged to visit the CFIA website or the Government of Canada database of recalls and safety alerts to search for specific product names and recall information. The recall is expected to continue until the affected products are removed from store shelves and distribution channels.
